When Linde Electronics, a leading industrial gas and technology company, needed a safer and more efficient application unit access system for their Phoenix facility, they came to SafeSmart Access with a challenge:Â

The Challenge
Linde’s existing setup relied on ladders and temporary scaffolding, which presented fall hazards, reduced workflow efficiency, and failed to meet OSHA fall protection standards. These methods made routine maintenance more dangerous, time-consuming, and inconsistent. Linde needed an engineered, long-term solution that delivered:Â
- Safe elevation over rooftop obstructions
- Full perimeter protection for workers
- A permanent alternative to ladders and scaffolding
- Seamless integration into their existing application unit footprint
OUR SOLUTION
SafeSmart engineered a fully customized AdaptaStep platform that checked every box. Here’s what we built:Â
- Wraparound aluminum platform built to navigate complex applications’ geometry
- Platform height of 10′-8″ to provide clearance over existing obstructions
- 70° stair access for easy, direct entry to valves and access locations
- Adjustable base plates mounted to existing concrete pads
- Full OSHA-compliant guardrails, gates, and mid-railing
- Tee-slot channels for modular add-ons and future attachments
- Custom cutouts to accommodate pipes, brackets, and sensitive equipment.
One of the standout advantages of this solution was its modularity. The AdaptaStep system is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing site infrastructure, making it ideal for environments like Linde’s, where fixed equipment and tight footprints leave little room for error. The platform’s modular nature allowed us to customize cutouts, add-on components, and connection points with precision, ensuring complete compatibility with the facility’s layout without requiring structural modifications.Â
