The vehicle-facing platform edge is profiled to fit the front of the train, creating a close work position for maintenance activity around the windshield, windshield wipers, external destination display, headlights, and horn-well area.

The platform provides a large elevated work area for technicians, tools, and replacement components. Foam rubber buffering on the leading edge helps protect the train surface while in use, and 45-degree stair access supports movement to and from the work deck while carrying tools and parts.
